KAY AKANNI, MEMBER SINCE 2012
Kay Norman is a first generation Nigerian American. Born in Georgia and raised in Washington, she has a Southern heart and a PNW soul. As a woman of color, member of the LGBTQ* community, and the daughter of immigrants, she is uniquely empathetic to people from all walks of life and varying situations. She has taken this empathy and become active in her community as a former foster parent and work with the nonprofit organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County. She has cemented her commitment to serve, by returning to school at Walden University to complete her bachelor's degree in Human Services.
In her spare time, Kay enjoys reading trashy novels, all things Harry Potter, singing along to the soundtracks for RENT and Wicked, CATAN and Dominion game nights, and bubble baths.
