Quarterly Giving Recipient – Gay City: Seattle’s LGBTQ Center
Each quarter, WPIG members nominate and vote on a quarterly giving recipient. In June, WPIG members donated $500 to Gay City, a local organization promoting wellness in LGBTQ communities by providing health services, connecting people to resources, fostering arts, and building community. Gay City is the leading provider of HIV and STI testing in King County.
Since 1995, Gay City has been providing innovative community-driven programming that is frank, bold and reflective of contemporary LGBTQ culture. From HIV testing, to arts programming, to resource referrals, their wellness programs engage the LGBTQ community on multiple levels. They provide a space for people to be who they are, but they also provide the opportunity for people to interact with other members of the LGBTQ community in ways that may challenge them, and help them become their whole selves. This is why so many people in our community say that Gay City feels like home.
