WPIG Members Volunteer at YouthCare’s Clothes Closet
Time for spring cleaning! On March 9th, WPIG members utilized their organization skills to help sort clothes for YouthCare’s Clothes Closet at YouthCare’s main office in Ravenna.
Servicing thousands of homeless youth each year, YouthCare’s continuum of care mobilizes the community to get youth off the streets and prepared for life. Basic needs, specialized counseling, education classes, transitional housing, and employment training are just some of the programs in YouthCare’s comprehensive continuum of care.
As we entered into the basement of YouthCare’s Ravenna office, boxes and bags of clothes cluttered the entry. WPIG member, Tiffani Lee-Kumabe, brought ten more bags of work-appropriate clothing donations to add to the pile! WPIG members used teamwork to sort usable items from damaged goods, as well as work/job interview appropriate clothing from casual clothes.
The Clothes Closet is open to youth in YouthCare’s programs, particularly those in transitional housing and employment training programs. Clothing donations are accepted through the YouthCare main office during business hours, but please visit their website to see the list of current items in greatest need: Give to YouthCare.
We are so honored to continue our relationship with YouthCare, our annual charity partner for 2014. WPIG members also recently attended and donated to YouthCare’s 30th Annual Luncheon on March 19th, where YouthCare raised a record-breaking $712,000 and hosted guest speaker Macklemore.
