WPIG’s 2015 Charity Partner is… Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWa)!

The Women’s Philanthropic Investment Group of Seattle is excited to announce our 2015 charity partner: The Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA)!

ReWA is a non-profit, multi-ethnic organization that promotes inclusion, independence, personal leadership, and strong communities by providing refugee and immigrant women and their families with culturally and linguistically appropriate services. ReWA advocates for social justice, public policy changes, and equal access to services while respecting cultural values and the right to self-determination.

From a small, informal alliance of concerned refugee women formed in 1985, ReWA has grown to become one of the largest non-profit refugee and immigrant service providers in the Puget Sound area.  ReWA helps women and their families develop their English skills, gain essential job skills, and find jobs to support their families. The organization’s wrap-around services address everything from early childhood education, employment and vocational training, English language courses, family and housing support, homeless prevention, mental health services, domestic violence support, naturalization and legal services, senior nutrition and wellness and a youth program.

ReWA and WPIG’s missions are deeply aligned. Both of our organizations strive to help women, children, and families move from places of need to self-sufficiency. We are honored to work with ReWA toward achieving this mission.
