2013 Auction Sneak Peek: Cherry Bowl

We love being able to showcase artisan craftsmanship at our annual silent auction! This bowl was hand-turned by Hayden Price, father of Brittany, one of our newest WPIG members.

Cherry Bowl

Hayden Price, born in 1951, has been involved professionally with hardwood lumber and woodworking since 1980.  In 2012 with the mentorship of Robert Ivey, a woodturner for 70 years, he began turning bowls. This Cherry bowl is the 13th item he has produced.

Honed from a solid piece of Oregon Bitter Cherry log and aged for several years, this bowl beautifully exposes the natural grain, color and defects generic to Northwest Cherry.  From a rough billett weighing over 6 pounds x 11-1/2” in diameter and many hours of time at the lathe removing excess wood and many more hours sanding, polishing and lacquering this bowl will last a lifetime blending artwork and function.

Don’t miss your chance to bid on this one-of-a-kind piece! Buy your ticket to the auction today!
