Quarterly Donation Spotlight: Camp Starlight
Every quarter, WPIG’s members are able to nominate local or international non-profits close to their hearts that can benefit from our financial support. These nominations are brought to the larger group, and we select non-profits that fit with our mission to support for the quarter. For the first quarter of 2013, we selected three charities that are doing amazing work in the Pacific Northwest. The first is Camp Starlight. (We’ll blog about the other two in the coming days!) Camp Starlight is a week-long summer camp for children in Oregon and Washington who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. Campers are either HIV+ themselves, or have a family member who is.
Thanks to a team of incredibly dedicated volunteers and supporters, these kids are able to get away from the stress of their everyday lives and just be kids, enjoying summer camp activities like canoeing, hiking, campfires, arts and crafts, and much more. This summer, Camp Starlight volunteers will welcome children ages 5-14 for the 14th year in a row.
We love the work this organization is doing, and are so happy to be able to support them! To learn more about Camp Starlight, visit their website or check out this great article written by a long-time volunteer.
